Description
This book is written to show how faith can overcome any obstacles. Often the answer to our survival is made possible from the lessons we learn after the experience. No one's life is unique in that it is void of issues. Equipping ourselves to face the problems head on, prepares us. Sharing outcomes encouraged the neighbors to fight their way through. This story began in a tight-knit all-black community called Newman Quarters. The community was positioned close to the Leaf River. The Civil Rights Era and flooding played a role in the struggles. Strong bonds, faith, determination, and love were instrumental in survival. Together as one big family. Awaiting change lasted years, but it came. Our experiences helped us embrace the change. Helping each other made the wait easier. Inspiration was in not giving up. Through it all there was hope. Over time the community was emptied. People moved away or died. All that's left are vacant lots, overgrown streets, and the memories left behind. As I grew older, what I learned kept things focused. In every story, there was a reason to hold on. It helped me move from there to here, through life lessons.
