Description
When the moment comes to face fate, a single word can decide everything. For Juriel and Santos, that word is revenge. After a savage attack by a rival gang, their destinies diverge. While Juriel seeks to rebuild his identity, Santos tries to impose his. A third person become pivotal in their future: Maca, a woman who questions the invisible hierarchies binding them together. In I Am the Fall, Jorge Alberto Gudiño skillfully sharpens the verbs and adjectives he needs for this urban western. La Barranca could be part of Mexico City or the non-descript outskirts of any other metropolis. It serves as the setting for a drama in which Tito, Eusebio, Racemo, El Huicho and other fleeting characters perpetuate a cycle of poverty and crime. This fast-paced novel explores the darkest consequences of loyalty and ambition, forcing readers to examine their own notions of right and wrong.
